look, ma, no crutch.
I'm walking around again...the Sciatica fairy has taken her leave once again. I'll probably see her again in two years or so.
I stopped at the police station in town to pick up my NH Pistol/Revolver Permit today. It's just a very unceremonious little paper, nothing like the driver's license-looking laminated card you get in TN for your $115. They didn't even charge me for the permit--when I asked about the fee, the secretary/dispatcher just kind of waved me off and said that "the Chief doesn't believe in charging people for permits, seeing how everyone already pays enough property taxes."
Kind of refreshing, that.
The folks just across the river over in Vermont have it even better...no permit required. If you can own it, you can carry it. That's the way it ought to be in all fifty states, not just two of them.

Alas, we have zero reciprocity with anywhere else so we're kinda confined to the reservation, as it were.

Doesn't Vermont get like an F- from the Brady nutters?

You guys should look into doing what Alaska does. After they got rid of their CCW permit requirement, they still allowed people to obtain them so they could maintain reciprocity with other states and to allow CCW holders to skip the NICS check for their gun purchases. Not a bad deal, that.

I had to pay $20 for my NH license, but in exchange I got a nifty plastic one. Not complaining about the price, since I don't pay NH taxes, and it gives me most of the states that don't recognize my resident Ohio license.

You gotta love small town NH. When I moved to my current location 8 years ago, I asked the town clerk about the chief's office hours so I could renew my CCW license. When I got home from work, the application was in my mailbox, not posted, just dropped off. Last year after renewing again, I figured he'd call and ley me know when to pick it up or mail it. Instead, one of the local constabulary dropped it off in person... on a Sunday afternoon. I got my check back for the renewal fee too, I think the state did away with charging for the license at some point, It was 10$ since it became a 4 year license back in the 90's
