birthday weekend.
My birthday will be on Tuesday, but Robin made a nice dinner and gave me a present on Friday night already. I got a very nice, ankle-length brown canvas duster, which is a seriously cool piece of garment. It's a good thing I swore off plastic guns, because wearing that duster makes you want to put a blue-steel-and-walnut-grips kind of gun on your hip.
We made the trek over the mountains to Franklin yesterday. Robin's mom hadn't seen Quinn in several months, and I'm not one to turn down a birthday dinner. The munchkin was a real trooper all day, napping almost the entire drive to and from NC, and greatly enjoying all the fuss made over him by a variety of folks. We had some fun, set out for the return trip entirely too late, and got back home shortly after midnight. Today I'll head to the range, get my Remington Speedmaster out of layaway, and burn up the ammo we didn't use up at the lake yesterday. Tonight, Robin is cooking Cornish game hens, medieval-style. All in all, a very good weekend...

My wife and I want to go to Franklin one Saturday and look around. Any tips on what we should see while we're there?

Downtown Franklin has a Scottish Tartan museum, which is small, but nice. It's also one of the few places in the country where you can buy Haggis and Irn-Bru.
